Purpose and scope
The Poston Family Archive is a public digital repository for documentary material connected to the Poston family of South Carolina and allied family lines. The collection includes historical newspaper pages, family records, lineage charts, photographs, historical-society material, machine-extracted OCR text, and published family-history works.
The site is intentionally organized as an archive rather than a personal profile or general family blog. Record pages preserve the source scan and OCR text so researchers can inspect the underlying material directly.

Evidence standards
OCR is a search aid, not a substitute for the scanned page. Family tradition, later compilations, and lineage charts are treated differently from primary or near-contemporary records. Where a relationship or historical assertion is reconstructed rather than directly proved by the underlying document, researchers should verify the link independently.
Collection update — September 2026
The archive now indexes 39 documentary records and five published works. Bibliographic data for the publication collection was imported from the publisher’s Google Books catalog export. The separate master media archive supplied for review contains modern legal, music, political, nonprofit, and press material about Eric Chalmers Poston. Its 29-row recommended Launch Set has been preserved as a segregated supplemental media index, while remaining outside the core genealogy search, XML sitemap, and structured family-history collection. Five rows marked pending canonical-URL verification and the non-launch-set review item were withheld.

The family archive is intentionally separate from the place-history archive. Relevant pages cross-link so researchers and search engines can follow the documentary relationship without treating the two websites as the same entity.
